White Fillings

Tooth coloured fillings can be chosen to match the colour of the teeth, making them a natural-looking alternative to amalgam fillings.

Tooth coloured fillings are often used in teeth that show during smiling or talking. They aren't as durable as amalgam, and so they aren't always suitable for the grinding and chewing surfaces of the back teeth.

There are a few different types of tooth coloured filling materials. The most common are called composite and glass ionomer. They are soft and can be moulded to look like the shape of a tooth before they are hardened, usually using a blue light. Tooth coloured filling materials stick to teeth, so they can be used to build up the edges of chipped or worn teeth.

Composite shrinks very slightly under the blue light. This can pull on the tooth and may cause sensitivity. It can also produce a tiny gap between the filling and the tooth that may lead to further decay.

Whitening

Teeth can become discoloured or dark by common foods and beverages such as tea, coffee, red wine and smoking. The colour of your teeth can be greatly improved by whitening them, sometimes known as bleaching. We offer two types of whitening:

Home Whitening kits - Custom-made trays are fabricated to closely fit your teeth and you are then provided with a specially formulated gel to place in the trays. This process is aimed at achieving gradual and long-lasting whitening of your teeth that can be topped-up as and when needed.

In-Surgery Whitening - This process takes about an hour and involves the placing of specially activated bleach on the surface of your teeth. This treatment can make your teeth several shades lighter giving you a brighter confident white smile. To achieve the whitest possible smile, we recommend that for long-term and optimum results, that this process is backed up with the home-whitening kit.

Gum Disease

Periodontal disease affects teeth, gum and the bone that surrounds the teeth. Most people who have periodontal disease are rarely aware of it. It's very often not painful, especially in the early stages. The main cause is accumulation of plaque. Plaque is the sticky food and bacteria that forms constantly on your teeth. Veneers

A veneer is a very thin layer of porcelain, similar to a finger nail, specifically fabricated in the dental laboratory for each individual tooth. As with all exclusively fabricated technical work, this process demands an extremely high degree of skill and artistic talent. We work closely with the dental laboratory at each stage of the production process to ensure your veneer fits and matches the colour of your surrounding teeth perfectly. The veneer is bonded onto the front surface of the tooth to improve its cosmetic appearance. Veneers can enhance the colour, close unsightly gaps or even change the shape of individual teeth.

Crowns

When a tooth has become grossly destroyed it may become necessary to cover and protect the remaining tooth with a crown (sometimes known as a cap). This can either be made of gold, porcelain-fused-to-metal or pure reinforced all-porcelain. In addition to protecting damaged teeth crowns also improve the cosmetic appearance of your smile.

Your dental crown is typically placed over two visits. Firstly, your damaged tooth will be prepared and an impression mould of your mouth taken. The mould is then sent to the dental laboratory to fabricate the crown. During this period a temporary crown is provided. On your second visit, your new crown will be permanently fitted.

Botulinum Toxin & Dermal Fillers

As your skin ages, it loses its natural collagen and hyaluronic acid. This weakens your skin's structure and appearance. Dermal treatments reintroduce either of these two substances to the skin to smooth out wrinkles, frown lines or folds on your face. Collagen and hyaluronic acid can also be used to resculpt your lips, making them look fuller or reducing the wrinkles around them.

The facial rejuvenation treatments even use your own skin cells to stimulate the production of your skin's natural collagen in the problem areas. Our practice offers these treatments from fully trained healthcare professionals, letting you add another dimension to your dental makeover for a dramatic new look. The Botulinum toxin and Dermal Fillers anti-wrinkle treatment can smooth out age-related wrinkles such as crows feet, frown lines or lines on the forehead. It works in a different way than the injected gels and the effects last between 3 - 5 months.
