Crowns

When a tooth has become grossly destroyed it may become necessary to cover and protect the remaining tooth with a crown (sometimes known as a cap). This can either be made of gold, porcelain-fused-to-metal or pure reinforced all-porcelain. In addition to protecting damaged teeth crowns also improve the cosmetic appearance of your smile.

Your dental crown is typically placed over two visits. Firstly, your damaged tooth will be prepared and an impression mould of your mouth taken. The mould is then sent to the dental laboratory to fabricate the crown. During this period a temporary crown is provided. On your second visit, your new crown will be permanently fitted.
